About Shannon's Dogs
Amanda Labadie
I've been dog training since I was 13 years old. I had a fantastic mentor as a child and she really took me under her wing and taught me about dedication, patience, compassion, dog, and dog training. I learned to never quit, and that there are answers to every problem. It has been quite the journey since then. I have never stopped learning, and do my best to continue MY education. i have attended countless seminars and workshops- all in an effort to learn as much as I can. I have been teaching for over ten years- obedience, agility, scenthurdle, rally. I teach classes, private lessons, and even travel around doing dog training workshops! Being a teacher is so rewarding- the lightbulb moments, the gratitude, and just seeing a team come together- make all the work worthwhile. I have a great bunch of students- they are really much more than just students, but my friends aswell. I am very lucky!
I train my own dogs as much as I can and we compete in lots of different things. I am not 100% devoted to any one sport, and that does hurt sometimes. There is only so much time in the day, so it can be a challenge to fit in all the fun things we like to do! Agility was my main sport for many, many years. I started with shepherds, and then corgis. My corgis and I competed a lot. Wicca took me to a few regionals, and a few nationals. She was an incredible agility partner. Now she is a good bed warmer, and is enjoying her retirement. ;) Pixel didn't get as far- though did compete at one, and a half regional events. ;) The half was the beginning of the end. A muscle strain in her shoulder, the first injury. And the one that came back a few times before I officially retired her from agility. I am training a young Border Collie now. He was a rescue dog, and has plenty of baggage. It has been a lot of work to get him to the point he is now. But I can see the potential so we keep puttering away! Someday soon he will be ready to trial. ;) Until then we have a great time in the training field!
